Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Are your products for adults and children?
Yes, but children just generally have more dramatic healing results – this is just the same as how kid's knee scrapes will heal quicker than adults. Adults generally have had imbalances for far longer, and it does require more effort.

What is the expiration/shelf life of your products?
  • The toothpaste is best to consume within 3 months of opening as it easily gets contaminated.
  • The shelf life of the unused/unopened Tooth Puddy will last a year or two. Opened, it will last around 3 months to a year (possibly more) just depending on the conditions it is kept in. (ie don’t get water in it!) neither product has water; so the oils going rancid are the only issue if they are kept clean. if water gets inside the jars, mold is possible!
  • The shelf life for herb blends is two years, possibly more depending on the conditions it's kept in.
  • The shelf life for our gum/tooth oil would be 1 year if it were sealed. We only use new oils and the gum oil base is sunflower oil, which has a shelf life of 2 years. The only real factor that changes the shelf life of oils would be the condition they're stored in.

** for all our products, we highly recommend avoiding getting water into any of our containers because it could possibly cause the growth of mold. This is because we do not use chemical preservatives as any of our ingredients.

If the tooth is visually healed, is the tooth still decayed inside?
We have dentists who treat patients, and they recommend our products. They are the ones examining the teeth and can see exactly what is going on. We have never had a single report of this happening.

Which products are giving the results seen in before and after photos?
Generally those are from the puddy or a combo of the puddy and our other products; most frequently the toothpaste and tooth serum! many people also find the bone renewal to be very helpful. That being said, we will always recommend the end to everyone that they make sure that they are getting and vitamins, internally, either in their diet or through supplements… This is really the most important factor in getting results.

What protocol do people use to get results?
in a nutshell...

  • minerals used topically on the tooth (puddy and/ or toothpaste)
  • minerals internally (diet, herbs, supplements)
  • enough dietary vitamins (k2, d3 in particular)
  • keeping mouth moist (no dehydration, constipation, and no mouth breathing !)
  • use oil daily! it’s just generally very supportive of the teeth. you can use any of our oils or else a plain organic one from your health food store

That being said, it really can be so individual because it is about causing the root cause as to why you are experiencing dental issues and addressing it! You have to keep trying until you discover that missing puzzle piece.

Do your products have preservatives?
No! Which is great because neither you or your child will be consuming any synthetic preservatives. We do use a few herbs to help fight bacterial growth, but they are not as strong as regular preservatives. It is best to be careful and keep your jars clean! Neither our toothpaste or puddy contain water, but if you introduce water, then mold can grow.

Do you use nano HA?
No, we use 100% micro hydroxyapatite from fossilized coral

Why don’t you use nano HA?
We have found micro to be just as effective and feel safer using hydroxyapatite in a more natural size. Nano HA is so small that you need an electron microscope to view it!

there is some concern over the safety of nano HA because it is SO small that it is thought to possibly make it into areas in the body where it shouldn’t go. we have tested both nano and micro HA personally and have not found the nano to be more effective, so we figure.. what is the point? we’d rather use something natural and safer than risk giving something dangerous to kids, especially when we haven’t seen any clear benefit.

What is the best order to use your products in?
We recommend cleaning the teeth first. To do this you can use our toothpaste, tooth powder, or the tooth scrub (or any combo of those!)… they mix and match wonderfully! After that I, would either oil pull or use one of our tooth / gum serums. lastly, I would apply the puddy!

Tooth Puddy Questions:

Does the puddy hurt?
The puddy should not hurt any more than it would hurt to touch a tooth. that being said, many people do describe a throbbing or pulsating feeling which is totally normal! if you experience any abnormal pain, I would consider if there could be an allergy and potentially stop use (or at least take a break).

How many times per day can I use the puddy?
You can apply it to clean teeth as often as you like!

Do you have tips for getting the puddy to stick?
The consistency of the puddy can be altered to make it closer to your preference. many people like to melt it in their fingers to get it stickier and thinner before they apply. other people like the puddy to be more solid, so they make keep the jar in the fridge or freezer (this can be helpful for applying to the molars). Some people also find it helpful to dry the teeth before applying. One thing i’ve found is that you should not overthink it! i just smear it on quickly and not overthink it too much. everyone does have different mouths; but most people are able to get it to stick just fine!

Can my child nurse or have a bottle after puddy is applied?
Absolutely. Some may come off but that is okay!

How thick of a layer of puddy is needed?
It is up to you! I apply it like white out or a layer of glue.

How long does puddy need to stay on the teeth?
I think it is ideal to keep it on for at least an hour, but many people prefer to leave it on overnight. That being said, even if it just enters your saliva it is still neutralizing acidity in your mouth and introducing minerals into the saliva!

How long does a jar of puddy last?
This really depends on how much you use and how often, but generally it lasts a month at the very least - and oftentimes, many months. It is very dense so a little goes a long way!

Toothpaste Questions:

Do you need to rinse after brushing with the toothpaste?
You do not need to rinse, but be sure you do get your teeth feeling super clean! our toothpaste is not abrasive and stripping, so occasionally if my teeth are really dirty I will need to brush 2x. It is like a toothpaste concentrate, so you don’t need to add much to the tooth brush. your teeth should feel slippery and smooth when you’re done!

Can I spit the toothpaste down the sink?
It is best to spit the toothpaste in your trashcan to avoid clogging your pipes.

How do I clean the toothpaste out of my toothbrush?
Because the toothpaste is oil-based, the best way to clean a toothbrush is simply by using a good soap. You can also use a really hot water. That being said, it is good to change your toothbrushes more frequently than many of us do!

Should i dip my toothbrush in the jar?
Introducing water into the jar can allow it to mold, so it is best not to!

Safety and Purity Questions:

Are your products safe for breastfeeding/pregnant women?
All topical products should be fine because the herbs would only be consumed in extremely tiny amounts. It is best to avoid blends that are ingested, just to be safe. if your herbalist / acupuncturist says it’s okay then i would listen to them! also, trust your body’s wisdom and your intuitive judgments :). We always recommend that if they have any concerns, start with only a small amount of product in case it may trigger an unknown allergic reaction.

HA source and percentage
We use micro HA from fossilized coral (basically coral rocks so no living coral is harvested or harmed) from Japan and we use 20% HA in our products

Are your products safe for kids?
Yes, except if they are allergic to any of the ingredients we use in our products. We ensure that all of our topical products contain the ingredients in quantities that are safe for people of any age to swallow. that being said, I wouldn’t begin using our products in babies that are not yet eating food. Our contaminant levels are far below the daily recommended levels as well. For more info you can read our product purity info page.

Are your tooth/gum/mouth products safe to swallow?
Yes, all of our ingredients are food or pharmaceutical grade and are safe to swallow. We have our products tested for purity, and have such low levels of impurities that we don’t even need the California prop 65 warning on them. We test our products regularly, and we test the individual ingredients, because we are always trying to make them even better!

Do you test for contaminants?
Yes, all of the COAs we have can be found at our product purity page.

Product Recommendations?

What do you recommend for plaque and tartar?
The best thing i’ve found is to use oil first (oil pulling is ideal but you can also just brush with oil) then to use a more abrasive toothpaste (ours would be the whitening tooth scrub). That being said this js not something I would do daily because you don’t want to strip enamel. Like a face scrub, it is to be done occasionally (approx once a week or so).

If I can only buy one product, what would you recommend?
The tooth puddy and an amazing diet. I would also oil pull with any oil you have at home.

Is there an ideal order to use things in?
It is going to depend on your mouth! the key is that you want to get your teeth clean before applying the puddy. clean teeth should feel smooth and slippery. Oil and oil pulling can be done before brushing to help soften deposits on the teeth. You can also use something more abrasive like the whitening scrub or tooth powder! I actually also apply oil after brushing too, as a protective varnish on the teeth! this is especially good to do after you use something more abrasive. Puddy is good to use as your final step, then leave it on as long as you can!

What are your recommendations for gum recession?
I would recommend never mouth breathing (you can use a mouth tape at night) and be sure that you are going to sleep with clear sinuses. You can use a Netty pot if you feel so inclined. I would also recommend getting in the habit of oil pulling daily. You can use our oil oil or any plant organic oil. You could also use our gum oil after brushing. You can apply with your finger or brush it right on. you will also want to make sure that you are cleaning under your gums as well, because any bacteria there will only make it worse! you will also want to make sure that you are adequately hydrated, and that you are not experiencing any constipation. The mouth is the beginning of the digestive system, so constipation indicates dryness of the digestive system in therefore the mouth! so you will want to treat both. I like to use hydrating, natural Jello products and herbs like slippery elm, marshmallow, and tremella!

Product recommendations for tooth cavities

You can use it in conjunction with other products, including our Remineralizing Toothpaste, Gum Support Oil Pulling Oil or Heal-Thy Teeth; Tooth-Nourishing Topical Serum for added support.
