In Ayurveda, nothing is inherently good or bad. Everything contains within it certain qualities that may either be helpful or harmful depending on your unique constitution and current imbalances. When we view things through the lens of qualities, it becomes easier to discern whether something is a good fit for us.
FLUORIDE IS SEEN AS HAVING DRYING AND HARDENING QUALITIES
These qualities may help explain why fluoride can support the outer surface of the teeth.
But strong teeth are not just about the surface.
When used in excess—or without proper balance—too much dryness may contribute to brittleness.
TEETH ALSO REQUIRE INTERNAL NOURISHMENT
Regardless of what is used topically, internal nourishment is essential for strong, healthy teeth.
Adequate minerals and fat-soluble vitamins help support strong internal tooth structure.
SO EVEN IF YOU CHOOSE FLUORIDE, IT STILL MATTERS TO SUPPORT THE BODY WITH:
- Calcium, phosphate, and fat-soluble vitamins
- Oil pulling or oil-based products to help counterbalance excessive dryness
- A mineral-rich internal environment
